Acrylic, dip, liquid gel and Gel-X all add length and strength, but they wear, fill and come off differently. Here is the short version. Your artist will talk it through with you before anything is applied.
The strongest and most forgiving option, and the easiest to shape into a long stiletto or coffin. Best if you are hard on your hands or you want dramatic length. Fills run about every two to three weeks.
A lighter, more flexible feel than acrylic, with a naturally glossy finish. Ombré is built in color through the nail rather than painted over the top, so it grows out softly instead of showing a hard line.
No lamp and no odor, with a slim, natural-looking result that still holds up. A good middle ground if you want real durability without much added length.
Soft gel tips applied full-cover and cured for a lightweight set. It goes on quickly, comes off cleanly, and is the gentlest of the four on your natural nail underneath.
With proper care, acrylic and Gel-X full sets last two to four weeks. How long depends on how you care for your nails.
